South Africa

The land of deserts, mountains, pearl white beaches and pure nature. The land where you can spot the Big Five  during a safari and where you can enjoy a nice cocktail on the Signal Hill during the night. You can fall asleep in one of the lodges of a luxurious hotel under a beautiful starry sky.

In 2014 we went on an unique journey to the beautiful South Africa with a group of 40 persons. From Amsterdam we flew with a plane from South African Airways to Frankfurt and after a short stopover our journey  continued  further to Johannesburg.

We landed in Johannesburg and went to Pilanesberg Game Reserve by touring car. We stayed in the 4-star Kwa Maritane Lodge, a beautiful accommodation in this well-known parc of South Africa, built in South African country style.  During the first two days in Johannesburg, we went on various safaris in open and closed SUVs and besides dining in the restaurant, we enjoyed a south afrikan barbecue.

On the third day we went to the airport of Johannesburg by touring car, to catch the plane to Capetown. After landing in Capetown we went on a breathtaking panorama tour through the beautiful surroundings of Capetown. During the night we enjoyed a dinner in a restaurant near the well-known Waterfront. During the last part of our journey we stayed in the 4-star Cullinan Hotel with a nice view on the Table mountain. An elegant and timeless hotel with a Big 5 Wine Cave, the perfect place to try unique South African wines.

The next day we visited wine region Stellenbosch, where we went to Neetlingshof. After an interesting lecture, we enjoyed a lunch on the beautiful estate of Stellenbosch. At the end of the afternoon we went back to Capetown, where we enjoyed an exclusive Sundowner (alcoholic drink) on the Signal Hill. At night we had a delightful dinner in the town of Sea Point. After this busy day we went to bed to recharge for the next day.

Meanwhile day 5 had begun and we spent the whole day at the Cape of Good Hope. A beautiful place, with a breathtaking view, rich in lush nature and pearl white beaches. At night we had a farewell dinner in Gold Restaurant, where the local inhabits completed the night with traditional dances and wonderful show.

The next day we had to pack our suitcases and after the last breakfast and a farewell lunch under the South African sun we went by touring car to the airport of Capetown. At the end of the afternoon we flew back to Frankfurt and after a short stopover the airplane flew further to Amsterdam.

It was a wonderful trip, a trip that will be never forgotten…
