The legend of Leuven..
The oldest version of the story dates from the year 1222. The story tells us about Margaretha van Leuven who lived and worked in the St.-Jorishostel. When a couple of pilgrims checked in for the night, Margaretha leaves the hostel to get some wine. When Margaretha returns, she finds her family dead. The pilgrims turn out to be a gang of robbers who take Margaretha out of town where she gets raped and murdered. Here she is thrown into the river Dijle. Miraculously she doesn’t sink, but instead the fishes in the river carry her upstream into town.
You will find your way through Leuven by map and pictures that can be recognised in town. During the program you will answer the question about the history of this historical town.
Will you find out where Margaretha was seen for the last time?
